For many people, the idea of catching their parents in a moment of passion is one of the most unpleasant thoughts imaginable.

So spare a thought for the children of porn stars, who took to Reddit to reveal what it was like to discover their parents' occupations in a toe-curling thread.

One user, who goes by the user name Momsapornstar on the site said: 'Well I basically realized by age 14 or 15 that my mom did not have a normal job.

'And I was finally able to kind of put two and two together. Eventually I actually saw a video that she was in. And that's pretty much how I found out.'

Another told how their mother didn't begin porn as a career until her daughter was much older.

The poster was shocked at first and struggled with the revelation for a while.

She wrote: 'Flash forward to now, I just talked to my mom today. She's in Florida at a porn convention. She's gotten a name in BDSM/ rope play and travels around the U.S. teaching classes at conventions, and she's never been happier. 

'She will be 51 this year. I just turned 26. I'm happy for her. Still won't google her name though.'

Other stories didn't specifically involve posters' mothers, but were shocking nonetheless.
