A CLEANING expert has revealed the common mistake most people make when trying to get stains out of bedding.
Mary Futher, who is mostly known as Madame Sweat on social media, shared why bleaching your bed sheets wasn't a good idea.
In fact, she revealed that bleaching your bed sheets in an attempt to get rid of sweat stains can make the problem a whole lot worse.
She said: "If you get yellow sweat stains on your sheets, don't even think about using bleach.
"Often with sweat stains is they don't usually come out with regular detergent.
"So people always turn to bleach cause they want them nice and crisp and white."

However, the cleaning expert claimed this can do the complete opposite.
Not only is bleach too harsh for most fabrics, it can also make sweat stains oxidise, making them impossible to get out.
The sweat can react with the bleach, causing the stain to become darker and tougher to get out.
Thankfully, the cleaning whizz had a 20p hack that will actually get rid of stains.

"Amp up that laundry detergent with baking soda," she recommended.
"Baking soda and detergent will take out those stains."
Because of baking soda's alkaline level it works wonders at removing grease and sweat stains as it breaks down fatty residue.
You can purchase 200g of Baking Soda for just £1.60 from Sainsbury's.
If you use 25g of the miracle product in each load it will cost you just 20p.
The clip posted to her TikTok account @madamesweat has since gone viral with over 420k views and 9,000 likes.
People were quick to thank Mary for her hack while others agreed it worked a charm.
