Starbucks began reopening some of its closed venues from May, with several safety measures in place amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

From July 15, Starbucks has required all customers to wear face coverings when visiting any of its U.S. shops.

"At select locations where a local government [mask] mandate is not in place, customers that may not be wearing a facial covering will have various options to order their Starbucks, including ordering at the drive-thru, curbside pickup through the Starbucks app or placing an order for delivery through Starbucks Delivers," the company notes on its website.

Dunkin' Donuts

Dunkin' Donuts shops are open on Labor Day but operate on reduced hours. Normal opening hours run from around 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time), while some are open 24 hours a day. Weekend hours are typically from around 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (local time). Check your local venue to confirm exact timings.

Ninety percent of Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the U.S. have remained open amid the ongoing pandemic, "with even more options to allow guests to get in and get on their way safely," the company noted back in May.

"In addition to drive-thru service, we added curbside pick-up, expanded delivery to thousands of Dunkin' locations, promoted mobile ordering through our app, and suggested payment by credit card versus cash," the company said.

Several safety measures have been introduced including hygiene training and employee health checks using infrared thermometers. From August 5, all customers have been required to wear face coverings inside all Dunkin' Donuts venues.

Panera Bread

The bakery-cafe chain is open on Labor Day but hours may differ by branch. The venue's typical hours of operation range from around 5:30-6 a.m. (local time) to about 8-10 p.m. (local time). See the Panera website to find your local branch for exact timings.

The company has implemented several safety measures amid the ongoing outbreak, including face coverings, which have been required at all of its venues since July 15.

"Beginning Wednesday, July 15, Panera guests are asked to wear a mask inside our bakery-cafes nationwide. To ensure the safety of our associates and guests, masks are required at all times, except while seated and eating or drinking.

"If any customer does not have or want to wear a mask for any reason, we will happily serve them via Panera Curbside, Delivery or Drive-Thru," the company stated.

Its dining rooms have been opening on a rolling basis with "strict safety measures" in place.

Au Bon Pain

The bakery cafe chain is open on Labor Day but hours will vary by branch. Some venues remain open 24 hours a day during the week. See the Au Bon Pain website for details on your local venue.

This week, the company announced the temporary closure of selected venues across the country, including in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Washington, among other areas.

"With COVID-19's far-reaching and evolving impact, to protect our communities, teams and customers, we have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close select Au Bon Pain cafes," the company said in a statement Tuesday.

"We will reevaluate these café closures and will reopen when we feel it is prudent to do so. We will keep you updated as changes occur," the company added.

Peet's Coffee and Tea
