Matt Patricia is an American football coach who currently is associated with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL) as the head coach. He has also worked as the defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots of the NFL.

He was born on September 13, 1974, in Sherrill, New York, the United States. He was raised in his birthplace along with his siblings. He is of American nationality and his ethnicity is white.

He joined Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he matriculated and also was a four-year letterman as a center and guard with the Engineers football team.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from RPI in 1996.

Matt Patricia's career

After completion of his bachelor's degree, Patricia started his coaching career as a graduate assistant. After working two years as an application engineer with Hoffman Air & Filtration Systems in East Syracuse, New York.

He got an offer to maintain nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers with the Westinghouse Electric Company for $100,000 per year. However, he decided to work as the defensive line coach at Amherst College.

After some year, Patricia joined the Patriots under head coach Bill Belichick as an offensive coaching assistant. After a year, he was reassigned as the Patriots' assistant offensive line coach.

After that, linebackers coach Dean Pees was promoted to defensive coordinator.  Some popular football player's on his team are Randy Moss, Vince Wilfork, and Ezekiel Elliott.

Matt worked with the Patriots for 14 years from 2004-17, under various positions, and the Patriots have won three with him including in 2004, in 2014, and in 2016.
