“I’ve always had an annoying relationship with the term ‘tastemaker,'” Knowles told the magazine, “but it’s been a defining part of my career for the past couple of years.”
In a rainbow-printed, free-flowing Chanel dress with matching Jeremy Scott by Linda Farrow sunglasses, the mother of 9-year-old son Julez looks effortlessly cool. Each photo in the spread was drastically different with the only constant being Knowles’ flared out, flat top afro.
In one photo, she shows off her muscular, long legs in a flower-printed Moschino jump suit with thick Marni sandals, and in another she sports a Ralph Lauren Collection black and white matching sweater and skirt.
After Knowles married Daniel Smith at age 17, the couple divorced in 2007. But they still co-parent their son.
“We co-parent really well,” she told Bazaar. “I’m able to say, ‘I need to finish this album, can you step up and take care of the boy?'”
And she has since maintained a steady relationship with video director Alan Ferguson.
“Luckily, I dated all of the losers ages ago. My love life has been stable for a while,” she said, adding wryly, “It’s a f–ked-up thing — without conflict it’s a lot harder to write interesting songs.”
